Our Research journey so far...
Not all websites are created equal. Don't accept a website at its "face value." Learn how to be a careful researcher.
Just like there's a difference reading about Mylie Cyrus in a newspaper like The National Inquirer versus reading about her in The Washington Post, there is a difference in the information you read on a website created to make money like Amazon.com versus one created to access credible science information like NationalGeographic.com.
Using the drop-down menu under this page's tab or direct links, reread the 2 resources already introduced in class: TDLs and 5 W's. Once you've reviewed those, read the new resource, CRAAP, which is based on the Introduction video.
You will now use the information from these 3 resources to analyze 3 websites of your choice. These websites cover the same topic -- the Summer 2014 child migrant crisis at the border of the United States and how people are reacting to the crisis.
REMEMBER: The process is somewhat different when the resource is printed text, but the reasons are the same:
Can we trust every website we visit (and everything we read)?
